Most of us come to a point in life when we reflect on our life purpose. For some, this may have been clear from the start, while for others, there is often a struggle to sense and get a grasp of it. While its true that, unless you know where you are going, you can’t navigate, this becomes more crucial when you are at a crossroads in life and don’t know which direction to go.

Vedic astrology is a spiritual science that looks at life-purpose from many angles. In looking at the natal chart, that’s the snap-shot of planets over the place and moment of your birth. This shows personality, psychology, emotional state, level of confidence and many other elements that govern personality and drive.

One way of assessing life purpose in a chart is by looking at how the planets are arranged in the 12 houses of the horoscope. These may be divided into 4 main categories. Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha. Dharma shows a need to be, doing the right thing, Artha shows a needs to focus on money and wealth, Kama (different to Karma) means experiencing desires and achieving goals, Moksha is spiritual. If your chart shows a several of your planets in any one of these four areas, it will highly influence your sense of purpose and you may feel driven in that area of life. If your chart shows a fairly even arrangement of planets over these four areas you may be more balanced, but also not have such a strong sense of purpose. In a sense you have more choice as to which direction you go.
